Aims

The translating of the teacher's cdtoolbox began in May 2007. If you want to participate or get more information, contact me.

The purpose is to translate all the versions of the CD and DVD as well as some pages of the web site. We have to build one CD/DVD with several languages and not several CDs with one language. But it is an open project, so you can create your own version of the CD if you want..

Which languages ?

At this moment the considered languages are English and Portuguese (Brazil).

The method

The web site

The web site is developped with PHP and GETTEXT for the translation. This software generates text files with a 'po' extension. It contains the text to translate. You can modify this file with a simple text editor or with PoEdit.

Here are the files you will need for translating. Download the language you need or a blank file for a new language. The blank file is a 'pot' file which can also be used to update your 'po' files as new strings are added :

• English (Version 0.5 - 01-01-2008)
• Portuguese (Version 0.06 - 27-11-2007 )
• Empty template (Version 0.5 - 01-01-2008)

Softwares description

Softwares names and their description, as well as categories are in a database. Each language has its own table that has to be translated. If you are interested, contact me for the procedure. Those descriptions are used for the web site and for the CD's user interface.

The CD and DVD

We have to translate the CD interface and not the softwares included in the CD. The file to translate is very short and available below. The sofwares descriptions are the same as on the web site, so they don't need a different translation. You don't need to translate all the pages. Some pages are only interesting in France. For example, B2i exists only in France. So, this page can be deleted in other countries and removed from the menu
